a bamboo "forrest" contains a fraction of the biomass of a mature redwood forest

You've got to be Jajajew with a last name like that. Are you bragging? As for your comment we don't use redwood to make fibers or paper. The biomass you speak of takes hundreds of years to produce. with a two year growth before harvesting bamboo you can imaging how much biomass could be produced from say 150 harvesting seasons. So Mr. Dickman get your head out and wake the heck up.

This prevent deforestation. Wouldn't this in courage deforestation to plant bamboo forest (if not does that mean you will remove habitat when harvesting), if you plant new bamboo forest how would this affect the wildlife in the area. Deer, Kangaroo (in Aus), goats, curtain bird species, antelope depand where you are. This might seem environmentally friendly but deforesting and replacing with bamboo will devastate eco systems and habitat with native species (the only place you can do this is in Asia and everyone knows how good they treat the environment)

The deer and kangaroo can eat bamboo goats most definitely can eat bamboo birds do nest in bamboo forests so it will not change as they have 2 years in which to build a nest and raise babies before the harvest cycle.
As deforestation for lumber will not stop taking one of the previous areas for bamboo means you can prevent 40 other areas of regular trees from being harvested as the first bamboo plot will be supplying the needed materials the wood used to provide.

Pandas are a very fragile species, they're easily disturbed when procreating. Basically, they're used for environmental scams by big lobbies. In my opinion, environmental organisations could better focus themselves on topic that actually matter..

The only reason they're going extinct is because we destroyed most of their habitat. They have no problem breeding. People just repeat that myth because they're ignorant. Pandas are perfectly adapted to their environment that they evolved in 2 million years ago. It's the same reason most life on this planet is being wiped out. Humans are actually the planet's sixth mass extinction event (Holocene extinction).

Trees send roots to very deep underground to obtain minerals that may not be available on the surface. When a deciduous tree sheds its leaves, it will replenish the top soil with a lot of minerals. Bamboos cannot do that cause they have very shallow roots. So, bamboos can get whatever available only from the top soil. If you keep harvesting bamboos, you will end up using up everything available in the top soil. Bamboos also do not control soil erosion like trees.
The only solution for human sustainability is to use as little natural resources as possible and remember not to flush your toilet cause you are flushing all the important nutrients obtained from the land to the sea.

Wait, but whenever I see bamboo, the ground all around it is completely covered in leaves. That would solve the nutrient problem. Also, if we made bamboo farms, could we just have grass surround the bamboo plants to stop soil erosion.
If I am wrong, someone please correct me.

In my view it should be forbidden to be sold to private persons unless AWARE of possible consequences.

An old man in Southeast Asia once said to me that you can use the entire bamboo plant to propagate it faster as opposed to using only 1/3rd to 1/4th of it's top length. He said to us, cut the entire bamboo stems just below the culms to form a cup and plant it immediately and add water until a small proportion overflows the top and wets the soil where the culms are planted into it and right through it. Then all the planted bamboo cuttings will start to sprout roots and runners and rhizomes at the edges.

not to mention that when acidified with glacial acetic acid(essentially concentrated vinegar), you can make a themoplastic from the cellulose fibers(cellulose acetate) from the bamboo that can also be softened and dissolved in acetone. this is the stuff that was supposed to replace silk, cotton, all fabrics in the early 1900s, but was stopped by silk investors.

We make certain to mention on all of our product tags that the actual fabric is made from viscose from bamboo. After our research in preparation for this video we thought it would be appropriate to refer to it as "bamboo fiber" at that particular point in the production process to make it easier for viewers to understand.

Instant Pot Mediterranean Lamb Roast With Potatoes | This Instant Pot lamb roast recipe is amazing because of the garlic and Mediterranean herbs. When you take your first bite... wow! And it's faster and more moist than cooking it in the oven! | TraditionalCookingSchool.com
Oh my lamb!
My family loves lamb.
We would choose a lamb roast over a turkey or a ham any day.
And we often do… especially on holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Easter.
My favorite lamb recipe comes from an old cookbook of my mom’s called The Art of Syrian Cookery by Helen Corey (1962). Which I now own myself and I treasure it!
This Instant Pot lamb roast recipe is amazing because of the herbs and garlic rub — it fills up the house while it’s roasting and when you take your first bite… wow.
(If you’re a member of Traditional Cooking School and have access to past thank you videos, you’ll find the original Leg of Lamb Roast recipe in the Member Area with the thank you videos.)
Anyway, I took the original recipe and tweaked it to work in the Instant Pot. And I added the cooking of the potatoes in the same pot, too, so they would absorb the wonderful broth, herbs, and spices from the roast.
It turned out amazing. More moist. Faster than doing it in the oven. Still the amazing flavors from the herb rub. Mmmm… give me more!
Enjoy! (I have no doubt you will!)

Serves 4 to 5.
Author: Wardee Harmon
Recipe type: Main
Ingredients
2 tablespoons olive oil
5 to 6 pound leg of lamb, bone-in or boneless
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 bay leaf, crushed
½ teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon marjoram
1 teaspoon sage
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon thyme
2 cups broth
2-1/2 to 3 pound potatoes, peeled and cut into 2" to 3" pieces
2 to 3 tablespoons arrowroot powder + ⅓ cup water (optional)
Instructions
Turn electric cooker to sauté, or put stove-top cooker on burner over medium heat.
Let it get quite hot. If using an electric cooker, wait until the screen says HOT.
Then drizzle in olive oil.
Put the roast in, and swirl it around so it can get coated with oil.
Lift it off the bottom of the cooker to prevent sticking.
Then let it sear on one side, then flip it over to sear on the other side.
Sprinkle the roast with the salt, pepper, and all herbs.
Add broth.
Then cover the pot, checking the seal and components to make sure all is well.
If using an electric cooker, set to high pressure for 50 minutes.
If using a stove-top cooker, bring to high pressure and maintain for 45 to 50 minutes.
Then, when cooking time is done, place a towel over the venting knob to do a quick pressure release.
Open the lid.
Add potatoes.
Then cover the pot, checking the seal and components to make sure all is well.
If using an electric cooker, set to high pressure for 10 minutes.
If using a stove-top cooker, bring to high pressure and maintain for 9 to 10 minutes.
Then, when cooking time is done, place a towel over the venting knob to do a quick pressure release. Open the lid.
Check potatoes for doneness.
Then, using a slotted spoon, transfer the potatoes and roast to a serving platter.
Cover to keep warm while you make the gravy out of the broth.
Finally, whisk the arrowroot into the water, then add to the broth in the pot while stirring. It should thicken immediately from the retained heat; you can turn it to sauté if it needs additional heat for thickening.
Serve and enjoy!

I LOVE lamb but have always been intimidated to try making it. My mom used to make leg of lamb on Easter with garlic cloves stuffed into the meat. I’m allergic to white potatoes (can’t have any nightshades). Do you think rutabaga would work? Sometimes I use white sweet potatoes, but am afraid they’d be too sweet in this dish.
Thank you!

Instant Pot Pumpkin Pudding {allergy-friendly!} | Starting out our holiday morning with a creamy, sweet pumpkin treat most definitely makes me thankful and ready to celebrate! This is one of those recipes that proves special doesn't have to be difficult. Just stir, pour, cook, and chill -- that's really it! | TraditionalCookingSchool.com
We had this for breakfast on Thanksgiving morning…
And this creamy, sweet pumpkin treat sure made me thankful!
This recipe proves that special doesn’t have to be difficult. Just stir together all the ingredients, pour, cook, and chill — that’s really it!
Instant Pot pumpkin pudding isn’t like a liquid-y pudding. This one actually holds its shape (kinda like Christmas pudding), so it’s just as much eye candy as it is yummy for your tummy.
For instance, you may have noticed that gorgeous white liquid running down the sides… That is a lovely (and sugar-free) Coconut-Ginger Glaze. May I humbly suggest that you do not skip this step? 😉 It balances the sweetness of the pudding so nicely, and the ginger is just the right accent to the pumpkin and the coconut. The crispy walnuts on top add the perfect crunch.
Make your holiday table beautiful with this simple, elegant dessert — Instant Pot pumpkin pudding. It’s dairy-free, gluten-free, grain-free, and low in sugar, so I say it counts as breakfast, too!

Make your holiday table beautiful with this simple, elegant dessert. It's dairy-free, gluten-free, grain-free, and low in sugar, so I say it counts as breakfast, too!
Serves 5.
Author: Lindsey Dietz
Recipe type: Dessert, Breakfast
Ingredients
For the pumpkin pudding:
½ cup coconut milk (raw milk is also fine if you tolerate dairy)
2 teaspoons sustainably-sourced gelatin
¾ cup packed pumpkin (or well-drained homemade pumpkin puree)
½ cup coconut sugar
1 pastured egg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
½ teaspoon ground ginger
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
½ teaspoon allspice
½ teaspoon sea salt
1 cup water
For the coconut-ginger glaze:
¾ cup coconut cream, at room temperature
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/16 teaspoon stevia
Instructions
Add milk to a saucepan.
Then sprinkle with gelatin.
Turn heat to medium-low to gently heat the milk.
Whisk the milk to dissolve the gelatin.
Then remove from heat.
In a medium size mixing bowl, combine the milk + gelatin, pumpkin, coconut sugar, egg, spices, and salt.
Whisk until smooth.
Then pour into a well-greased 3-cup bowl, souffle dish, or jello mold.
Add 1 cup water and trivet to pressure cooker.
Place the pumpkin pudding on the trivet.
Then put on the lid of your cooker, checking that the seals and all components are in good shape, including being in the sealing position.
If using an electric cooker, set to high pressure for 30 minutes.
With a stovetop cooker, bring to high pressure and maintain pressure for a cook time of 30 minutes.
Then once cycle is complete, if using an electric cooker, hit the Cancel button to turn off the heat.
With a stove-top cooker, remove from heat.
Place a towel over the pressure release knob and allow pot to do a quick pressure release.
Then carefully remove the pudding and allow it to cool to room temperature. Do not disturb it while it cools.
Next, put the pudding into the refrigerator for 4 to 6 hours, or until it is totally set.
Run a butter knife around the edge of the cooking dish and turn the pudding over on to a plate or cake stand.
Combine the glaze ingredients by whisking in a small bowl until completely smooth.
Then drizzle over the finished pudding.
Finally, garnish with crispy walnuts, if desired. Enjoy!
About The Cooking Dish
Any 3-cup glass bowl, mini bundt pan, or souffle dish will work as the “mold”. I used a vintage jello mold to create this stunning pudding.
Just make sure you grease it really well with fat so that the pudding slides right out!
Also, I pressure cooked this pudding right in my Instant Pot, so whatever dish you use needs to fit inside your pressure cooker, and be easily removed.
Do you think you’ll enjoy this Instant Pot pumpkin pudding for breakfast or dessert?

Would Clear Jell work as the gelatin? I am the winner of the Insta Pot given away on a recommended site where Wardee taught once a month cooking. My daughter is really enjoying it! Now we can both learn together! Thanks!

I’m not familiar with that product, as I only use pure beef gelatin from a sustainable source. If it’s meant for Jello, however, it should work.

About
The first culinary school in North Luzon with over 30 years of unparalleled experience. Established in 1980 by Mrs. Emelita Wong-Galang, the studio marked its 30th year in 2010.
General Information
Mrs. Emelita Wong-Galang established the Emelita W. Galang Culinary Arts Studio in 1980. Upon the prodding of family and friends who swear by her cooking, she conducted her first classes, held during weekends in a small room at the family compound in Balibago, Angeles City.
As a young woman, Emelita Basilio Wong hardly knew any cooking if it were to save her life. As fate would have it, though, she married at a very young age and into a family who knew their food, there being chefs and food entrepreneurs among its members. Pressured by the need to serve good food to please her husband's spoiled palate, she had her first cooking lessons with her mother in law, whose father worked as a cook in Malacanang. Soon after, she sought the teachings of her father, Jose Wong, who himself had excellent kitchen skills, having started out in the Philippines as a thirteen-year-old cook, a Chinese migrant from Amoy, China. Jose Wong worked as a cook in hotels and restaurants in his younger years. He later established and operated the Royal Bakery, one of the more popular bakeries in post-war Angeles City.
Cooking and baking soon turned into a serious passion, and so Mrs. Galang enrolled in several cooking schools in Manila and abroad. To date, Mrs. Galang regularly attends courses in reputable culinary institutions to further hone her skills and keep abreast of trends. Among the schools she has attended are:
Wilton School of Cake Decorating and Confectionery Arts
Chicago, Illinois, USA (1980)
Le Cordon Bleu Ecole de Cuisine Manille
two-year diploma course on French and Continental Cooking
under Ms. Ma. Lourdes "Loudette" L. Dayrit (1984)
Escuela Profesional de Arte Porcelana Fria
Orlando, Florida, USA
The Culinary Institute of America at Greystone,
St. Helena, Caifornia, USA
The Thai Cooking School at The Oriental,
Bangkok, Thailand
Presently, the Emelita W. Galang Culinary Arts Studio offers lessons in culinary arts, baking and pastry arts, commercial baking, cake decorating, chocolate artistry, cold porcelain arts, and special lessons on authentic Kapampangan cooking. The studio caters to housewives, food entrepreneurs, overseas workers, and just about anyone with a passion for good food and fine cooking.

YIELD: 8-10 SERVINGS
3-INGREDIENT FLOURLESS CHOCOLATE CAKE
A decadent, gluten-free flourless chocolate cake recipe with no added sugar necessary!
PREP TIME: 15 MINS COOK TIME: 25 MINS TOTAL TIME: 40 MINS
INGREDIENTS:
8 large eggs, cold
1 lb. dark, semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
16 Tbsp. (2 sticks) unsalted butter, cut into 16 pieces
optional toppings: powdered sugar and/or berries
DIRECTIONS:
Adjust an oven rack to the lower-middle position and heat the oven to 325 degrees. Line the bottom of an 8-inch springform pan with parchment paper or waxed paper and grease the sides of the pan. (Be sure to grease the sides really well!) Wrap the outside of the pan with 2 sheets of heavy-duty aluminum foil and set it in a large roasting pan, or any pan that's larger than the springform. Bring a kettle or pot of water to boil.
In a stand mixer using the whisk attachment, beat the eggs at high speed until the volume doubles. This usually takes about 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, melt the chocolate and butter together. You can either do this in a double boiler on the stove (by placing the chocolate and butter in a large heatproof bowl, set over a pan of almost-simmering water, and stirring until melted and smooth). Or you can do this in the microwave (by heating the chocolate and butter in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate and butter are melted and smooth). Then fold about a third of the beaten eggs into the chocolate mixture using a large rubber spatula until only a few streaks of egg are visible. Fold in half of the remaining egg foam, and then the last half of the foam, until the mixture is totally homogenous.
Scrape the batter into the prepared springform pan and smooth the surface with a rubber spatula. Place the roasting pan on the oven rack and VERY carefully pour in enough boiling water to come about halfway up the sides of the springform pan. Bake until the cake has risen slightly, the edges are just beginning to set, a thin-glazed crust (like a brownie) has formed on the surface, and an instant-read thermometer inserted halfway into the center reads 140° F, 22-25 minutes. Remove the springform pan from the water bath and set on a wire rack; cool to room temperature. Cover and refrigerate until cool. (The cake can be refrigerated for up to 4 days.)
About 30 minutes prior to serving, carefully remove the sides of the springform pan, invert the cake onto a sheet of waxed paper, peel off the parchment paper, and reinvert the cake onto a serving platter. If desired, lightly dust the cake with powdered sugar and top with berries. To slice, use a sharp, thin-bladed knife, dipping the knife into a pitcher of hot water and wiping the blade before each cut.
