In this brief documentary we take a look at some of the incredible properties of bamboo. Bamboo is a miracle plant that can be made into a limitless amount of useful products. Our favorite product of course is ultra soft fabric we use to make our Cariloha apparel and accessories. http://www.cariloha.com

a bamboo "forrest" contains a fraction of the biomass of a mature redwood forest
Reply
Rumple Stiltskin

You've got to be Jajajew with a last name like that. Are you bragging? As for your comment we don't use redwood to make fibers or paper. The biomass you speak of takes hundreds of years to produce. with a two year growth before harvesting bamboo you can imaging how much biomass could be produced from say 150 harvesting seasons. So Mr. Dickman get your head out and wake the heck up.

global warming is a hoax? yes and no, its getting warmer but thats normal becouse we are closer to the sun at the moment (by the way polar ice that is melting is not part of the global warming but the big hole in the O3 above it) but the co2 is a problem becose its bad for health so just go bamboo and tesla

This prevent deforestation. Wouldn't this in courage deforestation to plant bamboo forest (if not does that mean you will remove habitat when harvesting), if you plant new bamboo forest how would this affect the wildlife in the area. Deer, Kangaroo (in Aus), goats, curtain bird species, antelope depand where you are. This might seem environmentally friendly but deforesting and replacing with bamboo will devastate eco systems and habitat with native species (the only place you can do this is in Asia and everyone knows how good they treat the environment)

The deer and kangaroo can eat bamboo goats most definitely can eat bamboo birds do nest in bamboo forests so it will not change as they have 2 years in which to build a nest and raise babies before the harvest cycle.
As deforestation for lumber will not stop taking one of the previous areas for bamboo means you can prevent 40 other areas of regular trees from being harvested as the first bamboo plot will be supplying the needed materials the wood used to provide.

Pandas are a very fragile species, they're easily disturbed when procreating. Basically, they're used for environmental scams by big lobbies. In my opinion, environmental organisations could better focus themselves on topic that actually matter..

The only reason they're going extinct is because we destroyed most of their habitat. They have no problem breeding. People just repeat that myth because they're ignorant. Pandas are perfectly adapted to their environment that they evolved in 2 million years ago. It's the same reason most life on this planet is being wiped out. Humans are actually the planet's sixth mass extinction event (Holocene extinction).

Bamboo lore, it came from a different world or dimension, giving to an ancient hero whom vanquished a demonic villain. Before that, there is no bamboo in our world.

Trees send roots to very deep underground to obtain minerals that may not be available on the surface. When a deciduous tree sheds its leaves, it will replenish the top soil with a lot of minerals. Bamboos cannot do that cause they have very shallow roots. So, bamboos can get whatever available only from the top soil. If you keep harvesting bamboos, you will end up using up everything available in the top soil. Bamboos also do not control soil erosion like trees.
The only solution for human sustainability is to use as little natural resources as possible and remember not to flush your toilet cause you are flushing all the important nutrients obtained from the land to the sea.

Wait, but whenever I see bamboo, the ground all around it is completely covered in leaves. That would solve the nutrient problem. Also, if we made bamboo farms, could we just have grass surround the bamboo plants to stop soil erosion.
If I am wrong, someone please correct me.

Just got back from a Caribbean Cruise and bought two Cariloha bamboo t-shirts for my husband in Cozumel. They are amazing, very comfortable, easy to wash, dry quickly - just the best. They were not cheap (obviously) but were worth the money. If you ever get the opportunity - buy some!

please read a note of warning: someone planted running bamboo on our community 40 years ago. it now covers over 15 acres (into neighbors land too) and destroys all undergrowth, destroying bit by bit local subtropical forest. In my view it should be forbidden to be sold to private persons unless AWARE of possible consequences.

+alfonso silada it's a grass, so it does go to seed occasionally. then it dies. occasionally most of the bamboo in the world all goes to seed and dies at once. it's a mystery why it does that.

+mike tovey it has strength, but it doesn't have the hardness to complement the strength needed to make engine components, it's like putting paper against a rock(in realistic terms), paper is strong, but a rock is a lot more wear resistant. you can't make plastic parts that will withstand the rigors of wear and tear that a engine capable of running a car produces,

An old man in Southeast Asia once said to me that you can use the entire bamboo plant to propagate it faster as opposed to using only 1/3rd to 1/4th of it's top length. He said to us, cut the entire bamboo stems just below the culms to form a cup and plant it immediately and add water until a small proportion overflows the top and wets the soil where the culms are planted into it and right through it. Then all the planted bamboo cuttings will start to sprout roots and runners and rhizomes at the edges.

People can already share it across social media, so why not let bloggers send traffic to your YouTube channel? Also, please put the link to your site in the description on all of your videos to make it easy for people to find out where to buy from you and for journalists to more easily contact you.

not to mention that when acidified with glacial acetic acid(essentially concentrated vinegar), you can make a themoplastic from the cellulose fibers(cellulose acetate) from the bamboo that can also be softened and dissolved in acetone. this is the stuff that was supposed to replace silk, cotton, all fabrics in the early 1900s, but was stopped by silk investors.

Thank you for your comment! We did not intend to be misleading at 4:50 when we refer to it as bamboo fiber. We make certain to mention on all of our product tags that the actual fabric is made from viscose from bamboo. After our research in preparation for this video we thought it would be appropriate to refer to it as "bamboo fiber" at that particular point in the production process to make it easier for viewers to understand.
